Air Quality & Conditioning Unit

One Cabinet.
Complete Air Quality.

No furnace. No air handler. No HRV. No ductwork. No air purifier.

The AQCU removes contaminants directly — CO₂, VOCs, formaldehyde, particulates — eliminating the need for dilution ventilation entirely.

The Problem

Traditional Ventilation is Broken

Buildings ventilate to dilute contaminants. This wastes enormous energy conditioning outdoor air — especially in extreme climates.

Dilution is Wasteful

Traditional buildings ventilate to dilute contaminants. This means constantly conditioning outdoor air — heating it in winter, cooling it in summer.

Extreme Climate Penalty

In high-delta climates (Canada, Scandinavia, Alps), the energy cost of conditioning outdoor air is enormous. The colder outside, the more you pay.

Complex Equipment

Furnaces, air handlers, HRVs, ERVs, ductwork, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, humidifiers — all to achieve what one system could do.

Ductwork Problems

Ducts accumulate dust, require ceiling bulkheads, create noise, and need regular cleaning. They're a maintenance burden for the life of the building.

The Solution

Remove Contaminants. Keep the Air.

The AQCU is a floor-standing cabinet that provides everything a building needs for comfort and air quality — without continuous ventilation.

Combined with a heat pump and hydronic radiant floors/ceilings, the AQCU eliminates the need for traditional HVAC equipment. One cabinet handles air quality, humidity control, supplemental tempering, and monitoring.

Remove, Don't Dilute

AQCU captures and removes CO₂, VOCs, formaldehyde, and particulates directly — no outdoor air needed for air quality.

Regenerable Sorbents

CO₂ sorbent beds regenerate automatically during off-peak hours. No filters to replace for years.

Minimal Energy

Normal operation uses just 100-200W. No energy wasted conditioning outdoor air. 60-80% less than traditional ventilation.

Silent Operation

Less than 35 dB(A) at 1m during normal operation. No ductwork noise, no air rushing through vents.

Operating Modes

Normal Recirculation

95%+

Continuous air cleaning at 300-600 m³/h. Coil provides tempering/dehumidification as needed.

Power: 100-200W

CO₂ Regeneration

1-2×/day

Scheduled during low occupancy. EAHP heats sorbent to 60-70°C to release captured CO₂.

Power: 500-1000W

Emergency Ventilation

Rare

Triggered by sensor alarm or sorbent failure. EAHP provides heat recovery from exhaust.

Installation

Placement Options

The AQCU can be installed centrally with shared risers, or at the perimeter with wall penetrations. Choose based on your building type.

Option A

Central Placement

Optimal for multi-storey buildings. Units stacked vertically share risers through floor penetrations.

Hydronic supply/return riser (25-32mm)
Potable water riser (15-20mm)
Condensate drain riser (50mm) — gravity fed
Outside air riser (150-200mm) to roof
Data backbone (Ethernet)

Best for: Multi-storey residential, offices, apartments

Option B

Perimeter Placement

Unit placed against exterior wall. All services penetrate through wall. Simpler for single-storey or retrofit.

Outside air direct to exterior — no riser
Hydronic, water, drain through wall
Power from nearest panel
Each unit fully independent

Best for: Single-family homes, retrofits, additions

Ground Floor / Slab-on-Grade

No connection from below required. Condensate drains to floor drain or small pump. Services can come from wall, ceiling, or slab trench. Unit is fully standalone.
